Coromandel II vs Plympton Footballers II

First Day

An outstanding century from Ben Moore has placed the 2nd XI in a strong position to claim their third consecutive win and cement their place as a genuine section II finals contender.
Captain Darren Cheek won the toss and elected to bat but his side were soon in trouble at 5/101 after 30 overs. However Moore, having already reached a personal highest of 54, found a competent ally in Andrew Magarey, playing only his second game this season, who was able to play a supporting role with 36 in an unbroken partnership of 135.
Cheek made a surprising declaration with Moore just one run short of becoming only the second player to score 150 for Coromandel in B Grade matches. His unbeaten 149 is the highest at this level since Gary Bonner's club record 262 in 1970.
In reply to 236, Plympton are 1/7 with Rob Negerman taking a wicket in the last over the day - a sensational catch by Magarey at gully.

Coromandel V vs St George III

First Day

The 5th XI are in a strong position after the first day against St George III.
However, it was a remarkable effort to even put eleven players on the field, with most of the regulars away for "Schoolies" week and no side named at selection on Thursday night. At that time a forfeit seemed a formality, however against an opposition that have lost all matches this season, their last two outright, a rescue effort led by Darren Cheek was instigated and a team was formed, mostly on Saturday morning. Cheek, who was due to lead the 2nd XI at 1:30, was seen still making phone calls, arranging players as late as 1pm.
The effort was well worth it as Coromandel dismissed St George for 133 and have almost reached the target at 5/99. Rahsaan Oakey, playing for the first week only, was the star of the day taking four wickets and scoring 68 runs including six sixes. The day also saw a return to the club of Glen Harmer, who played 53 matches from 1977 to 1991 and has the rare distinction of having taken a hat-trick.

St George 130 (Oakey 4/33, Kernich 2/19, Harmer 1/14, Bolton 1/24, Chittleborough 1/40)
Coromandel 5/99 (Oakey 68)
