Coromandel III vs Plympton Footballers IV

Day One

Plympton Footballers 5/415 (P. Zacpal 4/83, A. Rowe 1/74)

Day Two

The first loss for Richard Hunter's "spatchcocks" this season. Though they were far from disgraced, having reached the team total of 300 for the third time this season - an all-time record in third XI matches.
Mike Maclean gave the start the innings needed with a brisk 67. Mike's season total is now 595 and he is within reach of his personal best of 599 from season 2000/01. Despite a relatively brief occupation of the crease (just under an hour), Mike managed to clear the fence on seven occasions, equalling his personal best. Furthermore the final mighty hit was his 50th six for the club.
Adam Rowe was dismissed just one short of a half-century, "squeak" dismayed at a legbye call when on 49 - firmly believing that wood had made contact with leather.
In his 33rd match with Coromandel (all in "C" Grade), Andrew "Sarah" Ferguson produced some big-hitting to reach his maiden 50 for the club, the milestone reached from a mere 42 deliveries in 47 scorching minutes at the crease.

On a statistical note:
David Billett and Andrew Ferguson ran a 3, etching their names in history as only the second pair of batsmen from Coromandel to achieve this feat on the "twenty-cent piece" at Paringa Park Primary School. The other was in January 1999 when John Dyson pushed Mark Lemmey towards a double-century in the second innings massacre against Westminster OS.

And finally, on a lighter note:
With the mercury rising towards 40 degrees and having already endured nearly an hour of batting, it was a relieved "Fergie" that slowly walked off the ground, his ever-smiling face now a deep shade of red, at the subsequent break for refreshments.
